I am interested in conveying a sense of a place, and while the experience and observations might be personal to me, to bring the viewer along to visually explore.
My current body of work is based on time slowing down these past months and creative input coming from places close by.
Coming to terms with a new way of living and the emotional rollercoaster attached to daily changing restrictions resulted in a new way of creating and looking.
This work reflects the liveliness in the stillness found sitting on the ground being surrounded by itching nettles, flying and crawling insects, new blossoms and dying weeds with a gust of wind and seasons rearranging the setting and sittings. Environments close to my home, brimming with life when looking close up end up expressed on large canvases, translating sounds, colour pops, growth, the weather and feel of the place with paint into visual experiences.
The Ditch next door, abandoned farm gardens, the old woodland by the village crossroads, these places informed my new body of work.

Please simply drop me an email or visit me in the studio if you would like to talk art or have a look at my work. My coffee and tea are great, my baking is appalling.
Incorporating experiences from my time as a child, loving cartoons, living and working as an adult in urban environments, experiencing Asian culture and tattooing lead to integrating urban street style, Disney and calligraphy to my beloved paintings about the woods of my childhood.
The end results are expressive contemporary oil paintings, incorporating lettering, cartoons, tree markings and colour (lots of it), true to myself.
Painting in Nature
These are some of Silvi's studies and sketches of well known works by masters in their craft. She continuously refers back to the techniques and evolvements of the old and contemporary masters for her own work. As such they build the foundation for her teaching the craft of oil painting:
Turner, Monet, Eardley, Seago, Sickert, Aivasovsky, Grimshaw, Klimt, Pissarro, Degas, Cuming, Doig, Anderson, Sapiro…
